UKMT Challenge 2019

The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. Amongst other activities, UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils - over 650,000 pupils from 4,500 schools took part in the three individual challenges last year, the UK's biggest national maths competitions.

Lea Valley Academy entered 18 students for the Intermediate UKMT Challenge, which is geared toward years 9 - 11. We are thrilled to report that 9 students have won gold/silver/bronze. The winning students are:

The certificates will arrive in a few weeks and they will be presented at assembly.  There were also

a number of year 10s who performed well, only just missing the converted medal status, including Renee B, Jasmine B. and Jaden C. With LVA continued support and parental encouragement, our students will thrive and perhaps be invited to join the King’s Maths School Summer classes in July 2019.

Dr. Ramlogan, Teacher of Mathematics said,

We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that our students put into preparing for the competition and their exams.  The Junior UKMT competition will be held on Tuesday 30th April 2019 and we look forward to further triumphs.
