Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the new Headteacher of Lea Valley Academy, and I’m very keen to get to know parents, as well as pupils and staff, from my experience of being a teacher in north London schools for over 25 years, including the last 13 years at Edmonton County, I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together.

Lea Valley Academy has recently been through a period of change and I aim to bring a period of stability to the school. I am looking forward to finding out more about the school so that the improvements we make in this new chapter are supported by the whole school community.

"By working together, we can ensure all students enjoy their time at school, make excellent progress and leave us with the necessary skills and attitudes to lead successful and fulfilling lives."

Parents make an important contribution to children’s achievements at school, and I want to develop the relationship between the school and parents for everyone’s benefit and look forward to meeting you at school events throughout the year.

One of the first things I want to do is reinforce and raise our expectations of our students. It is important to be ambitious. I know our students will always respond positively to a challenge. So, next term we will introduce some changes that we believe will make a significant impact on our school culture.

Your support with these changes will be greatly appreciated.

Mr S. J. Kinson

Plans for reopening:

We are not planning to open the school for any additional students on the 1st June. At present we are monitoring the situation and guidance for schools closely.

We have started provisional planning for students in year 10 and 12 to have weekly 1 to 1 meetings in school from mid June. Nearer the time we will share these plans and risk assessment with parents and students. I am sure you appreciate we need to remain flexible due to the changing nature of the current situation and the safety and wellbeing of students and staff must come first.

Please check the website each day for updates.
