Yr9 Green Park Activity Centre Residential Trip

Year 9 were excited to go on their 2 day residential to Green Park Activity Centre, an ex-Rothschild estate and set within 80-acres of quiet rolling parkland and mature woodland in the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire, yet only an hour’s coach journey from school.  It is one of the UK’s leading providers of outdoor education for young people and they offer a fun, challenging and safe environment in which our students enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities to build confidence, teamwork, trust and co-operation.

The Safari Lodges were comfortable accommodation for up to 12 students and they were fed at the Bubble Café, for many this was the first time away from home.

Day One was a 13mile expedition which took a gruelling 6 ½ hours to complete and was physically demanding with students carrying overnight kit in large rucksacks.  The group motivated each other and demonstrated resilience throughout the day.

Day Two involved 3 outdoor activities, mountain biking, climbing wall and crate stacking.  The weather had taken a turn for the worse but our students didn’t give up and were superb throughout the day.

“The two days certainly took its toll on the students, taking them out of their comfort zones and placing them in some very challenging situations, both physically and mentally.  They all demonstrated skills and abilities which are rarely seen in a classroom environment, and I would like to congratulate them all”.
